Description
I have been an obsessive collector of vinyl LP's and singles for many years, and from the very first I have always been very careful about the condition of the records I have bought. Once in my posession the records have been well stored and always very carefully handled. If the records have been played at all, it has always been on a good quality hi - fi system, the deck being a Linn LP12 deck with a top of the range arm and cartridge.
As a result, most of the many thousands of items in my collection are in excellent condition or better.
Now, in order to create more space at home, I have decided to cut the collection back to a core of my personal favourite artistes, and to dispose of the remainder. These I intend to list for auction over the coming months.
For auction here is an original UK pressing of the legendary psychedelic LP by Velvett Fogg entitled 'Velvett Fogg', being a stereo copy on blue label Pye records bearing the number 'NSPL 18272', a record dating from 1969.
This copy is an absolute stunner. The laminated cover is clean and crisp, with the minorest of bumping and just a few creases along the front spine which have slight laminate lift on the ridges (see my picture of the front cover). The rear is brilliant white on the picture and few signs of age toning. Quite the best I have ever seen.
The record comes in its original lined inner bag which is still nicely white, and has no faults.
The vinyl is to die for, I could find absolutely no visible marks or scuffs even under strong edgewise lighting. the labels are clean and crisp with just the barest signs of spindle hole wear. I don't reckon this record has been acquainted with the platter on too many occasions. It would be difficult to imagine ever coming across a better copy.
The only real fault is that the cover, the bag, and one label of the LP carry the name of the previous owner written in blue biro. I have photographed the LP label which has this name in close up so you can see it. The name on the cover is written on the flip back laminate on the bottom rear right hand side (again see my picture). As it is written on the laminate the biro will probably wipe off with some carefully applied furniture spray (yes really, try it!!). However, on an album as rare as this I'd rather keep that experiment open for the new owner to try!.
So there it is, a legendary rarity in top collectable condition, sure to please even the most discerning of collectors. I'd rate it EX-/EX+.
Personal cheques in the UK only please.
See my feedback, and bid with confidence - and good luck.
It is offered at No Reserve and at a very low opening bid price!!
