This is my personal copy of Velvett Fogg.
Just recently I've been selling off my collection.
So here goes with a lovely album.
This is an original copy from 1969 on the Pye label.
Lets start with the sleeve.
Its in almost pristine condition... Please examine the pictures thoroughly.
The only wear is some very mile laminate creases along the edge of the front cover adjacent to the spine.
The main sleeve is shiny and new looking. Beautiful.
The spine is lovely too. No damage, its as square as it can be and everything is readable.
The back of the sleeve is also as new. Normally on these copies the back suffers from stains and grime but not this copy. The white areas are clean, no damage. The black areas are the same.
All laminated edges are really nice and clean too with NO shelf wear!
The opening edge does have some mild nibbles but nothing to really worry about.
I've had numerous copies of this and this one has to be the finest I've owned.
Now on to the vinyl.
What can I say apart from that it looks hardly played.
Both sides are very clean indeed, nice and glossy. No scratches, no marks. There may be some fine removal hair lines but to be honest I cannot see any under strong daylight.
The labels are also in perfect condition. No obvious spindle marks to what I can report about.
Beautiful. A really nice copy. So many of these have writing and damage but not this copy. A really nice copy.
Now on to the sound. (I'll be quite critical here)
Since I've had this copy (5 years) I've played it 2-3 times. It's always been played with a properly set up cartridge. (Ortofon SPU GT)
The sound is great for a recording which wasn't up to Abbey Road standards in the first place.
It has a little background noise in some quiet areas but nothing overpowering to disturb the music. A very light pressing bump can be heard between the first and second track on the fade out but goes away when track two starts. Again nothing to detract from the music.
From memory it has some clicks and pops here and there but don't last long, maybe two revolutions.There are two very short segments of light hiss but these don't last long (<1 to 1 sec max?). These are more so on side A.
I can't see any damage to the vinyl so this could mean that it needs a good clean. I has been cleaned but quite some time ago as I sold my RCM years ago.
In all it's a great listen and the condition is the best I've had and seen for sale on ebay over the years.
Whoever buys this LP will be very happy indeed.
This is one of the best examples I've seen and could be your final copy.
