Another from my personal collection of over 50,000 UK albums that I have collected over a period of more than 45 years! 1st UK pressing of Venom 1981 "Welcome To Hell" album  on the Neatrecords labels pressed on the original Black vinyl. This album was pre- ordered purchased from new and originally only ever played a few times and then to record to tape and then stored in a case with the vinyl separated from the cover and sleeve for protection. This is how I have always stored my records!! Features the earliest possible -A and -B Hand Etched Matrix endings (Only 1st press)!   This album is complete with the original 1st issue un- laminated cover in excellent condition, light wear only. The audio is truly stunning through out! The audio is graded at Very Near as Mint for the most part in my opinion! (note: Light static scuff noise heard at the intro to the 1st track on side 2 only to mention)  No loud constant clicks or pops! So rich and vibrant throughout! Looks and sounds and looks like it has barely been played at all in my opinion!  This is complete with the two original lyric inners and record sleeve in superb condition rarely seen complete like this!

Welcome to Hell is the debut studio album by English heavy metal band Venom.




It was released in December 1981, through Neat Records, at the culmination of the new wave of British heavy metal movement.




The music of Welcome to Hell is often described as speed metal, but it had a great influence on the then-emerging thrash metal style, and crystallised the elements of what later became known as death metal and black metal.




The sound of the album is very noisy and rough, perhaps in part because the band thought they were recording a demo when they recorded it over a period of only three days. According to author Dayal Patterson, Welcome to Hell might be the first black metal album.







British journalist Geoff Barton stated in his 1981 five-star review of Welcome to Hell that the album had "the hi-fi dynamics of a 50-year-old pizza", and that it "brought a new meaning to the word 'cataclysmic'" According to AllMusic journalist Eduardo Rivadavia, highlights of the album include "Welcome to Hell", "In League with Satan", "One Thousand Days in Sodom" and "Witching Hour"; Rivadavia said of "Witching Hour":




"Possibly Venom's single most important track, in it you'll hear a number of stylistic devices which would later pervade all extreme metal genres, indeed become their most regularly abused clichés.







"Canadian journalist Martin Popoff wrote that "Welcome to Hell got a certain fabulously stupid impetus to it, despite the sub-bootleg quality recording, and Cronos quickly establishing himself as the most annoying voice in rock"; it should be considered "a record of historical metal relevance", but "not the band's most listenable product".

The Vinyl
On initial visual inspection the vinyl looks absolutely superb, and I can't see or feel any scratches or marks that would cause any loud constant clicks or pops at all! Any marks that could possibly be seen would be light whypsy surface scuffs and sleeve removal type grazes only., (Note: A tiny mark/dot/scuff on side two at the beginning of the first track causes isolated scuff noise at the very intro to the track only.  This lays perfectly flat on the turntable and is free from any warping. (Note! I have double checked this) The vinyl looks superb, still retaining its original glossy sheen from new.  (no) deep needle scratches or marks that would cause any loud constant clicks or pops at all!

The Audio Quality
I have played the vinyl prior to listing on a top system at very loud volume! The audio is superbe cristal clear and very vibrant throughout! Top audio seperation on all frequencies only heard like this on early original 1st pressings! Note! This is the best sounding copy that I have heard,, so vibrant and clear, you will not find a better sounding album!  Importantly there were no loud constant clicks/ticks, pops or any jumps truly awesome and very rare for a 1st pressing. As noted previously there is light scuff noises at the beginning and four at the intro to the very 1st track on side two to mention only.  The audio is graded at Very Near Mint for the most part in my opinion! (As Noted isolated interference only)

PLEASE NOTE! I always add this disclaimer! I have played this album prior to listing as usual and have given my honest opinion on the audio quality. Please remember this is a 36 years old original vinyl (not a reissue) Please allow for the odd interference/static/crackle/tick/scuff noise but importantly nothing consistant through out the audio! Please remember  that this would have been originally played on a system that is 36 years old!
All indications i.e. that this vinyl has (not) been overplayed and in fact looks barely ever played, in my opinion and the audio quality superbe on all frequencies.
 
The labels
This features the "Neatrecords Records" labels. These are superbe I find it hard to barely see a spider trace on the labels, (even when angled to the light) and little if (no) spindle ware! Note: This looks barely ever played no more than a handful of times only in my personal opinion! Note: You can still see the plastic in the spindle hole!

The Record Sleeve
This is the original plain white patented paper sleeve. No splits or tears. Superb for 30 years old like this! Light creasing with age only.  The vinyl is now and has always been stored seperately from the sleeve. Note This is the original!

The cover
The original 1st issue un-laminated cover    There are (no) edge splits or tears.   The spine is lovely and  square   A truly superbe example rarely seen like this.!  Super glossy  Note: light creases noted on the front and at the edges and spine to mention and light rubbing wear on the front middle, light indents at the rear noticed if looked for.  Any other imperfections/scuffs/edge rubbing wear etc , are not noticed unless looked for in my opinion. This is strong and straight. Must be excellent in my opinion!

The Inserts
These are the original faximily type lyric inserts. (correct for this pressing) light creasing only.
