Grading standards

All records are visually graded. We use the Goldmine grading guide, which includes but is not limited to the following: 


NM

Covers: No creases, ring wear or splits.

Records: Shiny, no scratches or scuffs; no writing, stickers, or spindle marks on label.

 

VG+

Covers: Minor wear such as small seam wear or split, cut-out marking.

Records: Light scuffs and scratches plus signs of handling.

 

VG

Covers: Many signs of handling, such as ring wear, creases and seam splits. 

Records: Not as glossy, groove wear and medium amount of scratches and scuffs. Minor writing, tape or sticker on label.

 

VG-

Covers: Writing, seam splits, heavy ring wear. 

Records: Significant scratches and scuffs, label heavily damaged or obscured by writing, labels or tape.

 

G+, G and lower

Covers: Well, worse than VG-!  Pretty beat up, held together by chewing gum and spit (not really, but you get the idea). 

Records: Significant label damage, big visible gouges, paint, gunk, etc. might be in grooves.  About the only good thing about it is that it's not cracked or warped.

 

Packing

LPs will be in generic paper sleeves unless original sleeves are in decent shape (no tears or big folds).  LPs will be packed in cardboard mailers designed for LPs, along with proper insulation material (bubble wrap).
