Slide Away 12'' test pressing white label by VERVE (before they were 'THE VERVE' due to the legal wrangle with the US Jazz label)... this is a 3 track factory test pressing 'white label' 12 inch single - featuring the tracks:
- Slide Away (one of their killer tracks this!)
- Make It Til Monday
- Gravity Grave
vinyl and plain card die cut sleeve in NEAR MINT SUPERB UNPLAYED CONDITION!
As an added bonus this comes with a proper HUT records 'test pressing' A4 insert - I think this was for DJ's and those 'in the know' to score/grade the songs for their quality, but maybe I'm way off the mark and it was a sheet for the factory to judge the pressing quality, who knows.
AND AS A SUPER ADDED BONUS this insert has been FULLY SIGNED by the 1993 lineup - ashcroft, jones, salisbury, mccabe. its rare to get ashcroft (or especially McCabe!) signatures alone never mind the full lineup (before Simon Tong augmented the 'reformed lineup' that did Urban Hymns.
Unlike 60's/70's acetates those from the 80's onwards were vinyl DUB plates - as is this one - so no worries about acetate chipping away etc - this is a proper one off (if there are any more it'll be less than a handful of copies I'd imagine - amongst this collection is a few of the 'standard' issue 12'' promo vinyls and they're basically re-stickered 'standard' issues with die cut plain card sleeves or the proper sleeves with promo info stuffed inside - anyway... very very rare!)
My brother in law was a huge indie nut back in the late 80's / early 90's - well into his baggy music, and the early Verve were one of his big loves alongside the Roses, Happy Mondays, Inspirals, etc etc. you know the drill.
This was one of the last things he got hold of he reckons, he's pushing 40 now and with two daughters wanting xmas prezzies needs must, hence he's possibly parting with his Stone Roses collection (some very rare white label promo only things etc. possibly due up and there's currently a proper signed Roses pic about to finish in 2 hours - get your bids in!!) . It was bought in a London 2nd hand record shop back in '94 (the single came out sept 93 i think), and verified as genuine by the store themselves.
