This album was The Beatles FIRST release on the now famous Apple label. It was entered into the charts on the 7th of December 1968 and went straight to number one-where it stayed for 7 weeks! Making it the FIRST double album to get the top slot...EVER!
The rather unusual fact about this album is that it was the first release by The Beatles which contained only SOLO material.
By the time 1970 ended, the total sales of this wonderful album were estimated to be 6.5 Million! However...get this...The only other album that beat this a few years later was "Saturday Night fever" !!!

*VACUUM CLEANED*

 The vinyl remains shiny. The vinyl carries only very light marks to her, however after playing her through, I found BARELY ANY background noise...At all! There are just a couple of light and very infrequent pops to a few small areas of the audio:...I noticed a revolutionary soft pop at the start of Prudence, but this faded away as the track got going as well as another light revolutionary pop (which didn't last long either) at the start of Cry Baby Cry...Certainly nothing at all to detract from its richness and groundbreaking stereo.
 Wonderful deep & rich sound reproduction.
The strings on Piggies were magnificent in stereo-so clean and clear, I even noticed a few arrangements I hadn't noticed before!...I also notice a count of '5,6,7,8' in the middle of Don't Pass Me By-which I had never heard before either!!
Even the quieter side 4 played beautifully.
The very last few seconds of the last track on side 4 provided around 4 small skips-Maybe this will be played over with a slightly heavier stylus than mine..?..The rest of the albums is glorious.
A simple joy to listen to.
Really, REALLY nice playback!

Just light spindle marks to each label, with minimal hole wear evident!

"An EMI Recording" on just the one line, rather than split later onto 2 lines.
"Mfd in the U.K." to each of the labels.

The Cover:

It is the first run TOP loading with a great shine to her.
Garrod and Lofthouse gatefold without writing.
The spine remains VERY strong and free from splits and remains wide, rather than the frequently squashed spines I come across.
Has the printing of  Stereo to the back top right.

There is very little wear to this sleeve-as you can see in the detailed images provided. The corners have some slight rubbing and there are a couple of very small patches of discolouration....but we all have discoluration after more than 53 years on the shelf! The main point of note is the water stain to the bottom left corner-which is only visible to that corner on the front panel and not visible to the inside of the gatefold, nor to the back panel....If that wasn't there, this would be an easy EX grading.
 ALL ORIGINAL and remains in a very strong, solid condition.

Very good and very, very strong Garrod & Lofthouse gatefold....Remains lovely and clean inside.

 Original BLACK inners. They are both all original with the die-cut corners.
One has a split to one side and a very smalltear near the window, whilst the other has no split, but a larger tear to the window.

They are all present and free from pin holes!
Some slight discolouration to the back of them, but nothing bad at all.
Some light creasing, but only visible when angled towards the light.


Poster:

It is the ORIGINAL 1st printing of this poster. Lyrics printed to the back and kiss to the front and uncensored.
NO writing.
I am afraid it comes in 3 parts, with the back of it having some sort of strange spatter staining to one section.
ALL ORIGINAL and would still frame well.
