Here you have a VERY RARE 1961 NATIONAL MUSIC CAMP TCHAIKOVSKY Van Cliburn PIANO CONCERTO No.1. This album will be a great addition to your collection. This is the first time Van Cliburn played at the National Music Camp. The Album comes with a letter from the Joseph E. Maddy, President of the NATIONAL MUSIC CAMP in Interlochen, Michigan. The letter states: " Dear Camper: We are enclosing a recording of Van Cliburn's performance of the Tschaikowsky Piano Concerto with the National High School Symphony and Philharmonic Orchestra. Special permission was secured to make this record available to members of the orchestra only" The letter also mentions that President and Mrs Kennedy invited the National High School Symphony Orchestra to play a concert on the lawn of the White House during that summer.
