Recorded in 1974, this LP has become one of the rarest of Del McCoury's early band recordings. Never reissued in any other format, it was recorded on a small budget for fledgling label that is no longer in business. Essentially, a quickie throw-together of songs that were standard in Del's festival setlist at the time, it was done during a period when the band was in transition. Members then included Bill Runkle (banjo), Dick Staber (mandolin), Donny Eldreth (mandolin), Bill Poffinberger (fiddle) and Dewey Renfro (bass). Later, McCoury thought the recording was inferior in quality (not really true) and even filed a lawsuit to block its reissued by another label. Vinyl here is excellent, cover shows very little wear. Very few of these are around now, and it would be tough to find one in better shape.
