Description

TERRIBLY rare, is this record of Mae West's (only) sister, Beverly.  The story behind this is that in the 1960's or 70's Mae West thought she might boost the drunken morale of her sister, by having this record produced (made of vintage recordings Beverly made decades before) in LIMITED QUANTITY to give out to friends. She felt Beverly might cut down on the hooch if she felt she'd had some accomplishments.  West handed these out to friends and asked them to ask Beverly to autograph them (which reminded me of Max and Norma Desmond in 'Sunset Boulevard)'.  Bevery signed them, but it didn't help the drinking issue, needless to say.  Note:  this one is one of the few unsigned.

Her name is 'Bevery Arden' here.  The sisters were not entirely comfortable with Beverly being known only as 'Mae West's sister' (each had their own reason for that) so when searching for a suitable last name,  Arden was the choice. A street or two over from Rossmore Ave, where Mae lived, was Arden Dr. That is where the last name came from!

I have not heard this music, so cannot comment on it. I'm dying to know if it sounds anything like Mae West in pitch, but I do not have a record player. There are SIX songs on this!  It was produced here in Hollywood.  The record should play prefectly, although there are minor surface scratches.  The sleeve (cardboard) is only worn on the binding (or whatever it's called). The images on the front and back are in very fine condition.

You will probably never see such an item again on Ebay...so do bid!
