EXTREMELY RARE - ROCKABILLY - VAN BROTHERS - "SERVANT OF LOVE/ SWEET MARIE" - POOR BOY RECORDS - 1960
PLEASE MAKE YOUR BEST OFFERS ON THIS RECORD.  I WILL ACCEPT ANY OFFER THAT I FEEL IS REASONABLE CONSIDERING THE CONDITION AND RARITY OF THIS RECORDING. THE 2013 EDITION OF JERRY OSBORNE'S ROCKIN' RECORDS VALUES THIS RECORD AT $500-$600.
This is an original recording released by Poor Boy Records in 1960 in Muncie, Indiana. The matrix numbers in the deadwax are: 600-45-111-B for "Servant of Love" and 600-45-111-A for "Sweet Marie".  "Servant of Love" is a Top Ten Rockabilly hit and I have not seen this record since 2009, other than repro's! The record has been in my personal collection since the 1970's.
Arnold VanWinkle is the lead singer, with his nephew, Lee Van Winkle, as tenor.  The Van Winkle's were originally from Kentucky but moved to Indiana. They started out as Country singers but ventured into Rockabilly. When you listen to the awesome Dale Gentry guitar solo's in "Servant of Love", you'll be glad they did. The excellent Country song, "Sweet Marie", will give you an idea of their strong country roots.
