VERY RARE - UNIQUE PATHÉ DISQUE DISC -1905 - 90/100RPM - VERY VERY RARE
This PATHÉ DISQUE which is Very, Very Rare and you could say unique. The first Pathé Disc recordings were made around the period of this record 1905 and were quite unlike anything before or since. These one-sided records consisted of a thick plate made of somethiung resembling heavy clay or cement with a lamination of black wax that appears to be of the same composition as that used for the 2 minute wax cylinders. The label on this disc is a Gold foil affair with the information embossed in the wax underneath. There is no printing on the Gold label itself. The back side of the disc/record is covered with a stunning red label featuring the Pathé Rooster in all its magnificence. These records/discs proved to be unsuccessful, and very very few of them survive today. Those that exist invariably are unplayable as the wax coating crackles and flakes severely (primarily as a result of the different coefficients of expansion between the cement base and the wax). This example is unplayableas well, but it is as nice as one is likely to ever encounter. Because of its rarity it makes it a Very Collectible piece and a must in any real Collectors Collection.
