COVERS HAVE SOME LIGHT CREASING WEAR AND REAR COVER HAS SOME SCUFFING DOWN LEFT EDGE, INNER SLEEVE FIND PRIVATE PRESSING LABEL, INNER LABELS LOOSE AT BOTTOM EDGE BUT STILL VERY MUCH ATTACHED MATRIX NUMBER NEE S 1 B
FROM GOOGLE REFERENCE A low budget British musical composed by a blind 23-year-old and released as a tiny private pressing in 1971? This sure sounds fascinating, and the album doesn't disappoint - although it starts rather ho-hum, with a mediocre ballad and then a weird 1930s music hall throwback, you'll hear a lot of twists and turns as the story unfolds, including downer folkpsych ramblings, demented multi-vocal singalongs, cheap proto-proggy keys and even some first-rate electric guitar action. For a purely private, small budget enterprise (the flimsy paper labels on my copy have even come SLIGHTLY unstuck from the surface because of the bad glue), it's surprisingly advanced in terms of sound and playing - the guy definitely hired some highly competent singers and musicians to perform his piece! Overall Mr. Reject is definitely a product of the same time and place as the Holyground staple of records, or maybe those legendary Howell / Ferdinando collaborations (specifically Agincourt or Alice Through the Looking Glass), and as such, it begs for a reissue on a label like Kissing Spell.
REAL PSYCHEDELIC FUNKY...............ROCK TYPE
HAS SOME LIGHT SURFACE SCRATCHES ON SIDE ONE END OF TRACK THREE START OF TRACK 4, BUT STILLS PLAYS REALLY WELL..WITH SOME SLIGHT CRACKLE . OTHERS TRACKS ARE GENERALLY CRISP AND CLEAR CERTAINLY VGC+++++++++++++++ IF NOT BETTER BUT I AM NOT RECORD SPECIALIST

TITLE :       MR REJECT   LP
LABEL / CAT # :   MR REJECT   /    NEELPS1
COUNTRY / YEAR OF RELEASE :     UK  /  1971
DESCRIPTION :    I think this long-lost and unknown album must be one of the best kept secrets of the private press world!
This weirdo hippy concept album was composed by the hugely talented blind musician REG WEBB whom I've found out later went on to play in numerous jazz bands + nearly found fame with his late-'70s band 'FUSION' (which included a young NIK KERSHAW!) and he also played sessions with many big names, including LENNY KRAVITZ!.  It was funded by a Technical College / Art School in Essex in 1971 and I'm assuming that the record would have been pressed in very small numbers (possibly only 99!) to be sold/given out to the students/families at the 'one night only' school performance!
Music on here follows a concept/story about an outcast kid who runs away to join a hippy commune! (no I'm not making this up! check the track titles below).....and as you can expect from such a story there are a few wigged-out tracks which I've included snippets for you to listen to (taken from the actual record for sale) .....

The best is a storming organ & guitar FUNKY JAZZ-PSYCH INSTRUMENTAL simply entitled 'disco' which is the first track included on the soundclip. (Check the wild ORGAN break at around the minute mark!!)...the others range from wild freakout psych-jazz to almost acid-folk & naive whimsical songs (sometimes all in one song!) and mellow arrangements which often include a choir of the students??
