Firstly a bit of history of the album.....HELP was the BEATLES' 5th album coming out on the 6th August 1965. The premier of the album was played in London on the 29th July. Once again reaching the top spot in all record magazines of that era...as they had done with the previous four albums!

This is the rarer version in STEREO-Obviously, back in the day these cost significantly more than their counterpart MONO copies, so not many of these were produced and sold..

LOVELY EARLY PRESSING HERE

Vinyl:

QUALITY 143g

EX Audio output – visually VG(+)

There are light visible marks to the vinyl, but only very light marks which have very little affect on playback....After giving her a gentle ultrasonic clean I then played her all the way through and found an excellently strong CLEAN & CLEAR audio reproduction!

Some stand-out moments were the harmonies on I Need You (as well as the little kind of cow bell being bonked by Ringo with true clarity, which made me smile).

The fantastic thing I noticed was the fact that even after listening to this album many, many times...I heard some different arrangements and harmonies! Specifically some bongos in the background on "Lose That Girl" and lovely harmonies on "Act Naturally"...each of which I hadn't taken any notice of before, but couldn't miss this time as the Stereo audio highlighted these.

There was a tiny bit of shilling for 2 seconds in the middle of Ticket To Ride-not bad at all.

The audio is EXCELLENT.

Many light spindle marks to the labels, but really only visible when angled towards the light.

"MT" tax code lovely and proud to side 2.

(This was a very short lived tax code; from Jan 1st 1963 – July 1st 1963)

A small amount of central hole wear, as can be seen in the images provided..

Outer text "The Gramophone Co.LTD"

It DOES have the "Sold in the uk.." text.

Small initials within the £ sign logo, to side 2 only.

THE SIDE 1 LABEL HAS THE ASTERIX AFTER TRACK 4 LISTING...LATER PRESSINGS HAD THE ASTERIX INFRONT OF THE TRACK LISTING-THIS IS THE 1st PRESSING.

ALSO HAS THE CREDIT "LARK MUS." FOR TRACK 1 ON SIDE 2-ANOTHER PIECE OF EVIDENCE SHOWING THIS TO BE A 1ST PRESS (IF THE VERY EARLY MOTHERS & STAMPERS HAVEN'T ALREADY GIVEN IT AWAY!)

Still bright colours to the front laminate, with minimal discolouration to the back WHITE card as you can see in the images provided. There are only a couple of small crescents of spidering to the laminate-with one line of around 13cm to the bottom right corner. Along with some small fingers of spidering emanating from the seams...Really, REALLY well looked after.

The corners remain incredibly strong and sharp.

RARER NON OUTLINED STEREO..Just carries the PCS 3071 catalogue number to the back card, in the top right-not many have this configuration…

(Have a look at the other listings on eBay and you’ll see the majority carry the outline STEREO to the top right corner...Not this baby)

Original "USE EMITEX" poly-lined period inner with "Made In England" printed to one side.

It is the much rarer version of this inner too...It carries the PATENTS APPLIED FOR” statement to one side!

There’s a small amount of feathering to the opening.

GREAT CONDITION

CERTAINLY LOOKED AFTER THIS RECORD OVER THE LAST 50 YEARS!

Overall this is a TRUE 1st PRESSING, which is has the earliest correct EMITEX inner. Providing superb solid audio without jumps, skips or sticks and an all complete with the more unusual non-STEREO outlined cover.
