Description

The Buddy Holly Story, CRL 57279, 1st Pressing, Maroon Label, 33RPM, VG+!

A great combination of both a nice looking cover and well preserved vinyl for this rare record.

Please check the descriptions below for a better understanding of the product condition. Please see photos.

Product Description:.

For sale is an original The Buddy Holly Story album on the Coral Records label. This is an original, first edition, 33 rpm record from 1959 with the maroon label. The back of the album cover contains the red and black text. This is a great collectible from a great artist! Thank you for viewing this product.

Cover Condition: VG+

Front: Overall, the cover is in very nice condition.  I’m not a record expert, but I would say this would grade at a VG+.  I wanted to go with a more conservative grade. The cover is free of writing, stickers, etc. The only condition issues to note are  1. The bottom left and right corners are somewhat soft and a small 2” split is starting on the bottom right corner (see photo). The seams along the edges are otherwise in nice condition (see photos) 2. There is a faint, vertical ripple on the front left side of the cover that is very subtle (I tried capturing this in a photo), but the rest of the front cover looks very nice. There is very subtle yellowing and very faint scuffing from age on the cover, but nothing major.  I tried capturing any of these issues in the photos I’ve provided, so please look through them.

Back: The back cover looks very nice. Nice black and red lettering/text.

Vinyl Condition: Excellent/NM-

Overall, the vinyl appears to be in great condition. Again, grading more conservatively, I would say the vinyl is Excellent or NM-.  I’m not a record expert, but from a visual standpoint, both sides look very nice. There is one minor scuff, not a scratch, on side 2, but it doesn’t seem to impact playback. I only listened to both sides of the album once, and from what I can tell the album seems to play almost free of background noise, ticks, pops, etc. The vinyl seems to be in very nice condition. The labels look nice and have good coloring, although if you look closely you can see a few faint scuffs on the labels from the spindle near the spindle hole. Not scratches, just faint markings. I tried capturing these in a few of the photos.

Side 1: Looks very nice, probably a grade of NM-.

Side 2: Very nice, probably a grade of Excellent due to a very faint scuff that doesn’t seem to impact playback.
