Here's a review from the time that fully gets where the band's coming from:
"Coming from Düsseldorf, the cradle of kraut rock, Vibravoid is absolutely one of my favorite bands. Overdosed on 60’s psychedelia, original kraut rock, space rock, acid rock and Spacemen 3 the band’s leader Christian Koch is totally committed to his band and mind-expansion and you can really detect it from the music of Vibravoid… Distortions is Vibravoid’s fourth official full-length album but they have also numerous EP’s, singles, a DVD and couple of historical releases under their belt. It’s really hard for me to put their releases in order of superiority, but I can say that this latest one is for sure one of the best, partially what comes to execution and sound quality.
The album begins with a new, not just as raw, but stronger and better version of the wild blast called "Christmas on Earth" that has been previously released on a 7" EP with the same name. This rocks very hard also including a suitable amount of psych sounds! "Random Generated Future" is a mid-tempo, 60’s styled psych number that also has some organ. This is another excellent tune and a bit more genial, although there is also some heavier fuzz guitar at times. Then it’s turn for a marvelous cover version of Amon Düül II’s excellent classic "Eye Shaking King". This works superbly with the effected vocals and all honoring the original piece but adding new psychedelic layers. Amazing! The laid-back, simple and repetitive "Save My Soul" proves that Vibravoid has been listening to some Spacemen 3 in addition to 60’s acid rock. This one has a really great, narcotic and heady atmosphere and when the heavier guitars kick in my head is about to explode! Next they continue with another cover song when we get to hear the almost 20-minute-long, very hypnotic and groovy version of Can’s "Mother Sky". Wow! This track is a real trip. The vinyl version (also available as a limited split color version!) is finished with the almost instrumental, Mellotron-filled, celestial and mellow "Save My Soul (Reprise)". This is without doubt one of the best albums this year! Now we just have to wait for the collaborative album of Vibravoid and Sky Sunlight Saxon that includes parts of Saxon’s last studio sessions."
Let me add, that this truly deserves the tag 'psychedelic classic'!
