Fantastic debut album from one of the most dynamic and long lasting punk band's of all time.

Vice Squad were formed in 1979 in Bristol, the initial line-up was Beki Bondage (vocals), Dave Bateman (guitar), Mark Hambly (bass guitar) and Shane Baldwin (drums), and they played their first gig at Bristol University's Anson Rooms on 12 April 1979.

Their first release was the track "Nothing", which was included on the 1979 compilation album Avon Calling.

Galvanized by this local success and with encouragement from fans and friends they got involved in setting up the Riot City label with Simon Edwards, this was a necessity as the major lables simply ignored them.

Ironically later on the majors had to eat humble pie as the Riot City label became one of the major punk labels of the whole era.

Their first single, "Last Rockers" in 1981, was well-received, selling over 20,000 copies and spending almost forty weeks in the UK Indie Chart, reaching number 7, The follow-up, "Resurrection", reached number 4, and the band undertook a nationwide tour supporting the U.K. Subs.

The singles did received radio airplay and support from BBC Radio 1 DJ John Peel, and the band also went on to record two sessions for his show, in 1981 and 1982.

By now things were picking up and the band signed with major label EMI (on their Zonophone subsidiary), prompting unfair criticism from many within the DIY punk scene, Beki simply wanted bigger and better things for Vice Squad, as she explained in interview 'they had paid their dues' and so signing with EMI was the logical next step.

Their first album, No Cause For Concern, was released in late 1981, and reached number 32 in the UK Albums Chart, proof positive that Becki's faith in the band had finally paid off.

This album and arguably their best is now rightly seen as a second wave classic and is cited by many new bands as a massive influence even now some 44 years later.

No Cause For Concern is pure street punk, played by punks for punks so grab yourself this quality issue of a punk rock masterpiece.
