Description
Victor Gille ( 1884 – 1965 ) was a French pianist. First lessons at the adge oft two from Franz Liszt ( so the legend, but why not, Victor Gille was born in an aristocratic family, related to the composer Victor Massé ( 1822 - 1884 ), later studied with Louis Diémer at the Paris Conservatory. Victor Gille was an eccentric and wellknown personality in the discrict Montmartre, Paris, liked spiritism, monarchist ( one of his several ring fingers decent from Marie-Antoinette ( 1755 – 1793 ), the last Queen in France ). He was one oft he best Chopin player, with an outstanding sonority, gave many recitals beetween 1927 to 1940 for his friends and admirers at his home, at the Trianon Palace, Verseilles, at Champs-Elisées, at the Salle Erard, often his concerts take much longer than 4 hours. He was a rich men, made only a few records for French Odeon in ca. 1933, but said «I don’t need this money «. Ca. 1950 somebody recorded a private tape, issued on two CD’s, available on ebay.com ( Sakuraphon ).
10" electric French Odeon 166756: Chopin, Nocturne in F sharp major op. 15 No 2, Nuit d'été / Etude in A flat major op. 25 No 1, La lyre du Poète, matrices Ki 6464-1, 6483-1, recorded in Paris ca. 1933.
Condition: 1-2 / 1-2, tiny superf. sratch
A great rarity in top condition !
Grading:
1 = mint, never played on gramophone, is not used
1-2 = top copy, no traces of use - virtually as new
2 = excellent copy, few light non-sounding rubs/marks
2-3 = light traces of wear (rubs/marks), very light greying and/or light scratches, non sounding blemishes
3 = a good average copy with more noticeable rubs and marks; light greying, few light scratches possible
3-4 = more traces of use, sonic wear from light greying. An inferior average copy, light scratches possible
4 = some sounding wear, heavier rubs and marks, scratches possible
5 = obvious sounding wear, heavy rubs, marks, scratches. An unsatisfactory copy.
