This is for the record you see in the photographs here.
It is on the American Record Company label and this label dates from 1904 to 1908. It shows an American Indian smoking a pipe, holding a record in his right hand and apparently listening to a record.
In the photos you will see a small "orange colored" mark on the record toward the label. This is actually a "pit" mark that I can feel with my finger. There is a second, much smaller "dot" pit mark near the outer rim shown in another photo.
I would think that a needle hitting the mark toward the label would "jump" up and likely not connect to the exact continuation of the groove it was just in...wether or not there are folks that can fix this tiny pit mark and continue the grooves across it is something I have no information on...but I doubt that a needle will pass this area without missing the opposite groove precisely.
Another photo was taken of what I thought might be a "scuff" mark but a closer look at the larger photo leads me to think that it is not a scuff, but merely a "water stain" of some other harmless discoloration.
