" Beethoven: Symphony No 6 in F Major, Op 68 ("Pastoral")  Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, Franz Schalk, conductor,  (5-12" first edition golden horn HMV discs D 1473/77  in original brown HMV library album as issued  in late 1920s. Intoxicating, poetic performance by  the Vienna Philharmonic. The horn passages never  sounded better. The Vienna strings breathe a radiance  and warmth seldom heard today. Schalk was a  noted for his compelling Beethoven performances "
