Description
Original 1977 edition of this classic vinyl version of the initial Star Wars movie. I purchased this copy in the early summer of 1977 right after my 6-year-old daughter and I attended a showing in San Diego. (We had to arrive 2 hours early to get into line.) I filed it in my fairly large album collection, and there it stayed, untouched and unplayed for the next 46 years. I spent the past few months putting together my old stereo system, including restoring my 1977-vintage Bose 901 speakers, and I noticed this album when I was re-cataloguing my (much larger new) album collection. At this point, I can't remember why I even purchased it, a movie sound track as I stick pretty well to jazz, modern classical, and baroque music. Oh well; I also came across a copy of the first Bobby Deerfield sound track in the process, so the Star Wars purchase wasn't my worst mis-step.
This double-album is in outstanding condition, especially the vinyl records which are in pristine ("never-played") condition. The album's shrink-wrap was removed upon purchase (as any decent collector does to protect the vinyl from warping as the plastic wrap continues to shrinks with age.) The records were never removed from their sleeves since purchase, except to visually confirm their condition for this listing. I believe there may have been a Star Wars poster included in this edition, but I would surely have given it to my daughter for her bedroom wall. The cardboard sleeve has minor rub marks on the external corners, and a few small blemishes inside. The separate liner notes sheet included with this edition is in excellent condition as well.
