Presented are 4 albums of an original 5 album set. These are from The Library of Congress Division of Music Recording Laboratory (Album Vlll): from the Archive of American Folk Song Edited by B.A. Botkin circa 1943. These are not reissues.  These are of the original run of  this set of LPs pressed for distribution. I do not know how many sets were made but they were never  produced for sale to the general public. These were made specially for institutional use such as schools, libraries, cultural research facilities and such.  As institutions and libraries  moved, modernized or closed down some of their inventory was sold, donated, warehoused and forgotten or dumped. The records appear to be in near pristine condition. They do not appear to have been used much if at all. They are thick and heavy and 10" in diameter. They are 78 rpm. I have not played them (too afraid I'll damage them) so I cannot vouch for sound or recording quality. No visible scratches, scuffing or cracks. The record labels are all intact. The institution in which there were housed placed their label over the original labels on one side of each record. These institutional labels had only been partially removed (see photo). The set also comes with the original printed page material about the songs on each album. The cover of the binder in which the albums were found is a wreck but I am including it  because it has important historical documentation about the albums printed on it (sort of a provenance). The record sleeves inside the binder are in excellent condition. These are records 2,3,4 & 5. Number 1 of the set is missing. If I ever find it I will mail it to the winning bidder for no extra charge. Being sold in as-found condition. I am not an expert on vinyl but I believe these albums to be in excellent condition. Fabulous gift for a musician or library!Once in a life time find -- don't miss it!!   ***!!(You will need to do your research to find out the proper equipment on which to play these records to get the best sound quality and for preservation and maintenance.)
