NOTES:  The Violent Femmes was founded by bassist Brian Ritchie and percussionist Victor DeLorenzo following the demise of the initial wave of American punk rock, and became a full-fledged band upon the arrival of lead vocalist and guitarist Gordon Gano. In its early days, the band frequently played coffee houses and street corners. They were discovered by James Honeyman-Scott (of The Pretenders) on August 23, 1981, when the band was busking on a street corner in front of the Oriental Theatre, the Milwaukee venue that The Pretenders would be playing later that night. Chrissie Hynde invited them to play a brief acoustic set after the opening act.  The band signed to the then-independent Los Angeles punk label Slash Records. They released their debut, Violent Femmes, which they had recorded in July 1982. The music was an innovative combination of American folk music and punk rock, which would much later come to be known as "folk punk". The lyrics were the common themes of yearning for love, sex and affection. The group quickly gained a following that never veered into mainstream commercialism.                                                               
                                                                
                                                          

WE USE GOLDMINE STANDARDS FOR GRADING. COVER AND VINYL ARE VISUALLY GRADED ONLY.
Near Mint (NM or M-) a nearly perfect record. No obvious signs, of wear. Only signs of slight handling.
Very Good Plus (VG+) Some signs of wear, slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect play. Label may have some ring wear, discoloration but barely noticeable. Cover may show slight wear such as lightly turned up corners & slight seam split. LP cover may have slight signs of wear.
Very Good (VG) Many of the defects found in VG+ record will be more pronounced in a VG record. Groove wear will start to be noticeable. Labels may have writing, tape or stickers attached. The same will be true of sleeves or LP cover.
Good(G), Good Plus (G+) Record will play without skipping, but will have surface noise, scratches and visible groove wear.
Cover will have seam splits, especially at the bottom or on the spine. Tape, writing, ring wear will be evident.

We Ship all records in a heavy duty Lp mailer and all records come with a protective sleeve. Lps are removed from the cover to prevent splits.
