VIRGIN V2003 (1973):

This is a copy of the least common of the first tranche of releases from the fledgling Virgin label in 1973.

V2001 was Mike Oldfield's  "Tubular Bells"

V2002 was Gong's "Flying Teapot"

--BUT--

V2003 was this album: basically a studio jam session (recorded at Virgin's Manor Studios) albeit a set of actual arranged songs. 

The playing / singing is excellent throughout and presumably is by a collection of musicians who happened to be available at the time, taken from King Crimson, Patto, Vinegar Joe, Stone the Crows etc

This is an album I put together at Virgin Records Manor Studio. I was on crutches at the time with a broken pelvis after a car accident. It  featured some of my favourite UK musicians including  Graham Bond, Elkie Brooks, Boz Burrell, Rob Tait, Pete Gavin, Jim Mullen, Tim Hinckley, Mike Patto, Ollie Halsall, Jon Lee, Barry Duggan, Marc Charig, Dave Brooks, Mick Moody, Lol Coxhill and Lol Coxhill. Drummer Ian Wallace also played on the album but is wrongly credited. This record was a mess but it is an interesting document.

 The name , chosen by Virgin Records, is Latin for giraffe. A pregnant giraffe was brought to England from Spain for the cover photo. None of the musicians were paid.

This disc seems to have only sold a handful of copies and is therefore INCREDIBLY RARE.

A very few hairlines on each side

Visually: Little indication that it has been played or handled.

Bright clean surfaces.

Overall excellent visual condition.

Sleeve:

Spine fine

Very slight wear to lower edge

Corners and other edges including open edges perfect

Outer matt finish excellent with only slight signs of handling 

POSTAGE

(A NOTE ABOUT UK POSTAGE)
I use a strong purpose made mailing envelope to send LPs.
These cost about £0.40p each.
I remove the disc from its sleeve to avoid seam splits resulting from movement in the post.

I pack the disc in a poly liner and then insert two stiff cardboard squares to stiffen the package to avoid damage in the post.
The package now costs £2.51p to post within the UK.
Add in the 40p for the mailing envelope and you will see that 9 pence is left over for my time and a certain amount of parcel tape!
