VIRUS – Revelation. Garden Of Delights LP 015. German release. FACTORY SEALED VINYL RECORD ALBUM. Originally issued in 1971. This edition issued in 2013. Limited numbered edition of 1000 copies (this is # 70). German progressive rock. MEMBERS:  Reinhold Spiegelfeld (bass), Bernd Hohmann (flute, vocals), J. Dieter Krahe (organ), Wolfgang (Dicken) Rieka (drums), and Werner Mons (guitar). TRACKS:  Revelation (incorporating Paint It Black), Endless Game, Burning Candle, Hungry Loser, and Nur Noch Swei Lichtjahre. DESCRIPTION:  This German quintet recorded just two albums (there is also a posthumously issued live album). This is their debut, produced by Konrad (also sometimes written as Connie) Plank in Munich - where so much of Germany's "spacier" rock was being recorded, think of a cross of Floyd (for the heavy freak-out bouts) with some early 70's UK heavy progressive between Purple (Jon Lord for the organs) and early Sabbath (Geezer Butler on bass), or Raw Material. The lenghty opener is a good 12+ minute improvisation based on the Stones' Paint It Black, one of the best arrangements ever done with this song (along with metalheads Anvil and fellow early proggers Jody Grind). Endless Game (also stretching beyond the 12-minute mark) starts very slowly with great organs underlined by a superb and delicate guitar that gives way to flute and bass riffs that leads in to heavy freakout passages not unlike Pink Floyd circa Atom Heart Mother, simply great if not completely original. Burning Candle is however a much shorter and harder track, offering a change of pace, resembling something akin to Alvin Lee jamming with Ten Years After. The 10-min+ Hungry Looser is again a harder rocking track, featuring some bluesy piano. The album closes with 7 minutes of psych deliria which settles back in to the mood of the first few tracks; heavily Floyd-influenced and simply awesome. Their second album, recorded with only two original members remaining, moved away from the atmospheric psychedelics of this debut, though still offers up a decent progressive rock set. Nothing here is gonna blow your socks off, but of their recordings this is the one to own.

All LPs are removed from their jackets and placed outside of the jacket for shipping. If an album comes sealed (and will be noted as such in the above description), it will be shipped whole unless you request that I open it up to place the disc outside of the jacket for shipping. Both jacket and disc are placed inside of an outer plastic sleeve before packing for shipping. I use professional corrugated record mailers.

RETURN POLICY:

NON-ARRIVAL OF PACKAGES:

It has been several years since I’ve had a package not make its US destination, so risk is minimal.

INTERNATIONAL Customers:  Please wait at least 3 weeks from my confirmed shipping date before contacting me about the non-arrival of your package. If security is your concern please have your package registered (see above for fee). I do my best to quickly post packages, but once the package is in the hands of the world’s postal systems it is beyond my control. With first class mail international my only option for investigating the loss of your package is to verify that it left this country to its destination country. Most all delayed/lost packages have disappeared/been delayed after they have reached their destination country. NOTE:  Based on recent buyer feedback, International packages have been moving much slower these days; it is not unusual for a package to take over three weeks for delivery (especially to Italy), though normally packages should arrive in 7 to 15 business days.
