Description

Vintage Punk

VKTMS ?– Midget E.P.

Emergency Room Records ? ERR-OR

1979, US

Seven full inches of raw, hilarious, danceable punk.

I’m not this record’s first owner, I’m his second.  Like all the other vintage punk I’ll be listing, I got this guy in exchange for helping a friend move in the mid 80’s.  My turntable exploded before I had a chance to listen to any of them, and they all went to sleep in a storage box.  This 7” has not been played for the better part of three decades...

General Condition

I played each side of this record two or three times with a new stylus on a turntable that’s notorious on Amazon for its skipping tendencies (it’s got an insanely lightweight tone arm.) My system isn’t good enough for me to accurately judge the disc's fidelity, but the needle never skipped, and the needle never got stuck. The best photos can be outrageous liars; below are the flaws I managed to spot from a close visual inspection. Quite a few of these I only noticed while holding the disc at an angle against the light.

I’ve tried to capture the record and sleeve’s strengths and flaws with the large photos here, but don’t hesitate to contact me for larger photos or any questions on condition.  If you need me to take a closer look at some specific part of this guy, no problem.

Pressing/Version

I mostly used discogs.com to determine the pressing here; please check my photos and notes to verify I’m right before spending your money.  This is vintage 1979; etchings are ERR-OR-A and ERR-OR-B.

Specific Condition

There’s a little intermittent and moderate scuffing on both sides.  On the disc’s first side, six or seven areas where lines or scratches exist- four areas are fairly distinct, two scratches are pronounced, some of these look like a soft fingernail scratch.  Most of these are within track 1; track 2’s lines are far thinner.   On its second side, three areas with “fingernail” scratches, and a distinct thin double scratch across both tracks.  There’s also about a 1mm dint at the beginning of track 2.  I played this side four times on a turntable with a very sensitive and lightweight tone arm and was very surprised- all plays had no problem at that dint.

Held at an angle to the light, the first side in particular doesn’t look all that pretty.  I know for sure that this guy doesn’t skip or stutter, but I’m not versed in grading vinyl and there’s no way my camera can pick up most or any of this.  Again, feel free to ask if you have any questions on condition.

There’ll be a tracing of the cleaner I used a few days ago on the end grooves-I just didn’t want to get the liquid too close to those gorgeous center labels.  Those labels are very nice-great consistent sheen with just a few small areas of discoloration.

The sleeve is quite good, and pretty much as the photos show (some corner blunting and moderate surface wrinkling.)  No hidden splits or tears.  That square to the right of the skull is the remains of the original price tag.

I’ve got a fairly low price on this because enough of its surface is certainly not mint.  That said, this is solid record with great tracks.  I saw Dead Kennedys far more often than these guys (most often at The Farm, but once or twice in a church basement that I think was deconsecrated.)  VKTMS usually played at the more upscale Mabuhay Gardens.  The real difference was the movement of the crowd- VKTMS inspired us way beyond pogo and moshing.

Shipping and Stuff

Please see my feedback to get an idea of the accuracy of my longwinded descriptions and my pathological obsession with secure packaging for all things vintage.  This item is very well documented so, again, please contact me if you want larger photos or have any lingering questions on condition.

Disc and sleeve will be packed separately to prevent any damage to the cover art, and all will be ludicrously well-protected for their journey to their new owner.  I’ll be absorbing a good portion of the shipping cost because I just can’t see subjecting this glorious piece of history to the stupidity that is Media Mail.

Fully insured, shipping for USPS Priority is 4.00.

The Slightly Finer Print

Combined shipping

In many cases, there may be some combined shipping savings which I can pass on to you, but ONLY if you contact me BEFORE completing PayPal’s checkout. Please realize that combining orders might require me to repack the items and delay shipping by a day.

Payment

Sorry, but eBay will automatically open an “unpaid item case” for any buyer who has not paid within 48 hours of the auction’s close. To avoid this messy process, please pay upon winning.

Returns

Please note that I cannot consider returns for this item unless I have misrepresented it in my description and photos. Having said that, please contact me if you are in any way dissatisfied upon receiving it- I want both of us to be happy with the exchange. Feedback is the only real measure we have as buyers and sellers, and I strive for nothing less than a 100% 5-star rating.

Buyers with zero feedback

If you are new to eBay and have no feedback rating, please do not bid on this item without contacting me first (use the “Ask a question” link at the bottom of this page.) I’m happy to work with new buyers, but I will immediately cancel any suspicious bids which might hurt an honest auction.
