R707 ~ CLYDE MCCOY AND HIS ORCHESTRA
R755 ~ CHARLIE SHAVERS' QUINTET

BACKGROUND: For your consideration are these two gorgeous Vogue picture records from 1946/1947. These originally belonged to my grandparents and they were found after they had passed and their estate was being settled. These records were found in an old paper bag in a back closet; my guess is that my grandparents probably bought these new. At any rate, they had been stored for a long time. These discs have beautiful illustrations and will make great vintage display items in addition to the fantastic music that they contain!
DESCRIPTION: These records are 10 inches in diameter, have one song per side, and play at 78 rpm. Each side features a colorful illustration that is under clear vinyl with grooves/music impressed in it.
The McCoy disc is Vogue 707 with "Sugar Blues" (mx. P5-1G-O) on one side; it features a cartoon image of McCoy playing trumpet, against a blue background, and surrounded by "ice cube" notes and swirls. The other side is "Basin Street Blues" (mx. P7-1F) and features an African American couple greeting each other on a city street and a steamboat scene in the background.
The Shavers disc is Vogue 755 with "Serenade To A Pair of Nylons" (mx. P93-1C) on one side; it features a nightclub scene with a closeup of a dancer and her legs. The other side is "Broadjump" (mx. P95-1B) and has a cartoon profile of a trumpeter (Shavers?) on an orange background with three statuesque shadow women dancing and music notes all around.
CONDITION: These items are being graded visually; I have not played them. Both discs are in "E to E-" condition with some wear around the center (not in grooves). Both discs still have lots of clear shine and the graphics are crisp, centered, and colorful. There is no visible milkiness, chips, heavy scratches, heat marks, water damage, or cracks on either of these discs. They could probably use a wiping off as they are dusty.
On the "Sugar Blues" side there is some sticker residue in the middle, a mark that follows the grooves (above Vogue logo) a light scuff above McCoy's picture, some light, barely visible scratches all over the surface, and a few small visible bubbles in the clear vinyl. On the "Basin" side, there is a red grease pencil "36" written in the middle, two light visible scuffs at the 2 oclock position, a few light scrapes in the center (no grooves), and random barely visible scuffs and scratches all over the surface. A blemish is also noticeable in center ring, 4 oclock position, not sure what it is (no grooves).
On the "Nylons" side there are small noticeable bubbles in the clear vinyl at the 9 oclock position. There are a few light, barely visible scuffs and scratches on the surface and the middle looks to be bubbled up somewhat around the spindle hole. On the "Broadjump" side, again there are more barely visible scratches and scuffs on the surface and some sticker residue in the middle (no grooves). There may be a few small lamination cracks under the sticker residue (I cannot tell as they are so small), a very tiny one in the center at 3 oclock position (no grooves), and possibly one in grooves at 8 oclock position.
