Description

A REALLY EXCELLENT COPY OF THIS BEAUTIFUL AND RARE ADVERTISING PICTURE LABEL 78

Mike Thomas writes about this record

The was a one-off record to advertise SIemens' Opal and Pearl light bulbs. There's a certain amount of mystery about the record, but I would assume it was given away, probably at an exhibition. Although  I've never seen a copy in a special sleeve. The mystery is that it has a catalogue number, which you wouldn't expect for a special issue. The record is of the "unbreakable" format, probably made by Worldecho or Duophone (both q.v.). The band, however, has a Piccadilly label sound to it, so maybe it was a contract recording.

Well with this record comes with an insert on fairly flimsy paper - which actually looks like it was part of an original sleeve - so maybe they were issued in sleeves which did not survive the rigours of time?

Anyway, unusually this record is in really nice condition with no digs in the surface on either side - and side B is suprisingly hot!

Side A: The Opal & Pearl Dance Orchestra: Forget-Me-Not ((Mayhead Reaves))
Side B: The Opal & Pearl Dance Orchestra: The Popular Pair ((Jeanette))
