Description

This is part of a large auction of blues, doo-wop & R&B 45's on Chicago-based labels from the 1950's/early 60's. Several Chess, Checker, Vee-Jay and more. Many promos mixed in. Even a few from more obscure labels.

Release: John Lee Hooker - Little Wheel / Rosie Mae

Format: 45 rpm 7" single


Year: 1957


Notes: Maroon label 1st pressing.  Earlier single by Hooker, from his short stint on Vee-Jay. Interestingly, Hooker credited his stepfather for his intro to guitar playing. Both of these are slow, brooding tracks with his distinctive vocal style.


Vinyl Condition: VG, vinyl has surface scuffs over a pretty large portion of one side (see pics).  The other side has a handful of scuffs. Plays much better than it looks, the sound is great with no skips/ticks/bumps. Surprisingly, this plays with hardly any background noise at all.  Labels are nice with no marks/tearing and just one small tear on the V from a sticker pull. Not perfect, but a nice copy if you are looking for a player to fill a run.
