About the Album VELUDO - LIVE 1975 - R3047
May 1975. At the Getúlio Vargas Foundation theater in São Paulo, an authentic Brazilian progressive music festival took place. The name was fun and unusual: Banana Progressyva. Over four nights, the leading names in national progressive rock performed before a young and enthusiastic audience. The breakout group of the festival was Veludo. So much of a breakout that they performed on the first night and were invited back the following night.
The performance of Veludo was eagerly awaited by the people of São Paulo. The group invested heavily in promotion and even paid for an advertisement in the Folha de São Paulo newspaper, announcing their appearance at Banana Progressyva. Nelsinho Laranjeiras (bass), Paul de Castro (guitar), Elias Mizrahi (keyboards), and Gustavo Schroeter (drums) delivered one of Banana's best shows right from their debut. Their setlist included long, expansive suites such as "Veludeando," "A chama da vida," and "Antenoriun II," themes that highlighted the group's natural ability to navigate diverse musical styles from a progressive perspective, all adorned with beautiful guitar and keyboard solos. On the more concise side, there were two compositions by keyboardist Elias Mizrahi: "A única" and "Egoísmo."
After Banana Progressyva, the rumor was that Veludo's legendary performance had been recorded on cassette tape, directly from the soundboard. But where was the tape? Ten years of searching and frustration followed, until in 1985 the tape was found and reached the hands and ears of Nelsinho, who in 1996 finally released the recording on CD under the name Veludo Ao Vivo (Veludo Live). 
This is the first time Veludo Ao Vivo has been released on LP. Fate has made it possible today to finally hear, on vinyl, exactly how a Veludo performance sounded in 1975: without overdubs, studio trickery, edited tracks, outlandish suggestions from some producer who thought they knew everything, and that famous "filter" of the recording industry. Veludo in their natural habitat, 100% live, is a faithful portrait of Brazilian prog rock from the 70s.  
This Rocinante/Três Selos edition is on 180g black vinyl and includes a simple cover, A3 poster, and envelope with text by journalist and writer Bento Araujo, author of the Lindo Sonho Delirante book series.
