This listing is for an original U.S. pressing of The Velvet Underground & Nico LP on Verve Records, catalog V6-5008, with the iconic Andy Warhol banana gatefold cover. The front features the classic peelable pink banana with “Peel Slowly and See” text, and the back shows the live performance photo layout with printed reviews and credits. Inside the gatefold are black-and-white band photos, liner notes, and critical quotes. The labels are the blue Verve “large T” stereo design with track listings including “Sunday Morning,” “I’m Waiting for the Man,” “Femme Fatale,” “Venus in Furs,” and more.


Vinyl is graded Fair – it shows numerous scuffs, hairlines, and some heavier marks as seen in the photos, along with light surface dirt from age. There is handwriting (“Clemens”) on the label area and some wear around the spindle hole. Expect surface noise, ticks, and possible skips; this copy is best for collectors seeking an original play copy rather than an audiophile-grade example.


The gatefold sleeve is also graded Fair. There is noticeable ringwear, foxing, staining, edge and corner wear, and general discoloration consistent with a well-handled 1960s jacket. The spine and edges show splitting and fraying, and there is handwriting on the front and back near the top edge. The banana image is fully visible but shows age, small marks, and light soiling. The inner gatefold panels show yellowing and minor wear, but the images and text remain clear.


Overall, this is a heavily worn but authentic vintage Verve stereo pressing of The Velvet Underground & Nico with the sought-after Andy Warhol banana cover—ideal for fans of The Velvet Underground, Andy Warhol, classic rock, proto-punk, art rock, and 1960s first-press LPs.
