A MINT SEALED copy of this VERY, VERY RARE and VALUABLE record with the Andy Warhol banana cover! You can't possibly find a SEALED copy in better condition than this. No corner dings. No nothing. MINT, MINT, MINT! This may be a promo copy (other sealed Verves we received from the same collection with the same punch hole were yellow-labeled promos). So we feel very strongly that this is a promo though we can't guarantee it.

How does it sound? Great, from what we know of the recording. As for this specific copy – how would we know?! IT'S NEVER BEEN OPENED! What a find! A sealed copy of one of the most coveted LPs ever pressed!! This is the record with the famous Andy Warhol banana painting, and as this copy has never been opened, the banana obviously remains unpeeled.

The gatefold jacket is actually the second version of this release. It has the airbrushed torso back cover. Although we're quite confident in our own abilities in appraising pre-owned records, for this we consulted several industry experts and have been assured that this "second" jacket is actually as rare or even more rare than the "first" version and just as valuable!

As many know, the first edition of the Velvet Underground & Nico jacket included a photograph taken from one of their live shows. In the background of that photo is an image displayed on a screen behind the stage. The image is of an actor named Eric Emerson. Apparently, Emerson threatened the band with legal action for the use - even unintentional - of his image. Therefore, the jacket was eventually changed, with Emerson's image airbrushed out. The LP you're bidding on has the jacket with the airbrushed image.

This is your chance to own one of the only known sealed copies in close to perfect condition. It's artwork and music combined, and it's the Holy Grail of record collecting. Own a piece of American history.

There is a hole punched through shrink and jacket bottom right corner – proving that it's not a re-seal.

This remains the best pressing of this landmark LP. And it's clearly one of the best debut albums by any band of any time.

The Velvet Underground & Nico were Lou Reed (vocals, guitar); Nico (vocals); Sterling Morrison (guitar, bass, background vocals); John Cale (electric viola, piano, bass, background vocals); Maureen Tucker (percussion, background vocals). The album was recorded at T.T.G. Studios in Hollywood, California; Sceptor Studios and Mayfair Sound Studios in New York in April and November 1966 and April and May 1967.

The Velvet Underground was the catalyst that helped spark punk rock, and began the growth of an alternative branch within rock and roll's grand family tree. This was an unparalleled glimpse into the Summer of Love's alter ego, complete with graphic, unapologetic descriptions of intravenous drug use and risqué sexual situations. The band's 1967 debut was a tour de force that may never be equaled for its sheer radicalism in the face of rock convention.

Domestic (Excluding Hawaii and Alaska): If the Standard shipping option is chosen during checkout your order will be sent out via USPS Media Mail with no tracking or insurance. Please be aware that you choose this option at your own risk! Orders placed using the Expedited shipping option will be sent out via FedEx with online tracking and insurance. Tracking numbers will be sent at the winning buyers request.

Canada: Standard shipping for Canada is FedEx. Charges for all shipping methods are based on actual weight. Orders from Alaska and Hawaii will be based on actual weight.

Overseas: For packages lighter than five pounds, Airmail will be least expensive. Otherwise, we recommend FedEx as it is faster and safer than Airmail, and we are able to track your package through FedEx. We will ship through the United States Postal Service at your request. Please understand that shipping overseas through USPS can take up to four weeks. Also, we cannot track orders through USPS, and in the event that an order is lost, we cannot start a claim for 75 days with an additional four weeks for processing.

We will ship according to your preference, but if you do not specify a shipping method, we will choose the method we feel is best as outlined in the above paragraph.
