The Velvet Underground`s eponymous album.
This disc shows a production date of 1969, however it was bought new by me probably in the early 1980s
I have looked it up and from what I have read, this was a UK re-issue of the 1969 American album. It first appeared in the UK in 1971, though this, obviously will be a later pressing.
According to what I`ve read, there are two mixes of this album in circulation, one by engineer Val Valentin and another by Lou Reed. This apparently uses the Lou Reed mix, though there is nothing on the sleeve to say this. There is in fact no producer credit.
Sleeve - When I bought this album it was new and the shop in question had it`s LP sleeves housed in fairly flimsy plastic sleeves, presumably to avoid wear and tear. I left that on and it has lasted well, though it does appear to have shrunk. It has protected the sleeve well though there is a touch of wear to a couple of corners.
Labels - clean and unmarked
Vinyl - clean, intact, undamaged, no scuffs or scratches, no marks that would be likely to affect play. It`s from my own collection and, while I haven`t listened to it in years, my recollection is that it played without any problems.
