I will be listing many other fine classical recordings on early London, Decca, Columbia, Westminster, Angel, RCA Red Label, Vox, (including several 16rpm Vox), etc. over the next few days. The majority of these single LPs and box sets were purchased in the "Disc Shop" in Washington, DC during the 1950s-1970s by a collector with exquisite taste for outstanding classical music and musicians. These offerings are drawn from his 800-plus LP collection.

Here is your chance to own one of the most sought after Mozart piano solos collections ever issued, a 1954 original Angel Records #3511K "The Complete Works for Piano Solo W. A. Mozart" performed by Walter Gieseking.
This extremely rare set contains 11 LPs with disc numbers ANG 35068 through ANG 35078. Each disc is in an inner protetctive sleeve of paper placed in a heavy outer sleeve. Each outer sleeve has a great clasical scene with a listing of the performances on the disc. Each outer sleeve also shows the volume number and disc number in the lower left corner and the Angel Records logo at the lower right corner. The back of each sleeve has a small reproduction of various scenes and documents. The cover was, I think, originally a blue but has morphed to purple shading to blue. Box is very heavy with strong wood-reinforced spine with all lettering sharp and clear. All four corners on right side of the box have worn through.
The enclosed booklet states, on the inside front, "This limited edition was designed in Paris by Mercuree Editions. Completed September 1, 1954. Printed on Velin CrevecOeur Des Papeteries du Marais, France. Exemplaire No A 152". I have no doubt that this is an original issue. The original owner collected only the best quality recordings for his 800+ LP classical collection gathered from the early 1950s through the 1970s. I visually graded all 11 of the discs, and listened to parts of two discs. With the exception of the three discs I will describe, all discs grade VG+ to Near Mint, and several appear to have never been played. Now, to the other three discs: - Vol I (which is disc 1), ANG35068 (XAX.544) has a long line (not scratch) in band one. Band one also has a scratch which leads about 1/2 way into band two. On my 70s era Panasonic, this scratch DOES NOT interfere with play. - Vol II has a line (not scratch) completely around band but is NOT palpable and is not audible. These "lines" look as though, perhaps, a fingernail was pulled across the vinyl. - Vol IX has lights scuff marks on one side.SALE TERMS: Winner must contact me within three days of end of auction.
