Description
Kingsize Taylor and the Dominos - Decca Mono EP DFE 8569, Teenbeat 2 - from Star Club, Hamburg. 1964.
Tracks - side 1, All Around the World; Slippin' and Slidin'
- side 2, You Can't Sit Down; Hello Josephine.
Disc would be easily EXC except, sadly, there is a mark on side 1 track 2 that causes it to jump (not all all of my decks). Super version of Phil Upchurch's "Can't Sit Down", Fats Domino's "Hello Josephine", and the other two from Little Richard's repertoire. Sleeve EXC, indeed very good for its age, just a little creasing and the back is no longer virginal white. Back also has my name in light black biro. Can't identify the type of motorbike on the cover...
Enjoyed bands like this when they were around - never went for wishy-washy stuff like the Beatles, Searchers or Hollies, but enjoyed bands with a bit of power - the Undertakers, Freddie Starr's Midnighters, and this one - Kingsize and the Dominos. Indeed, met Kingsize when a friend's band was playing support - friend dropped a speaker cabinet on his foot and had to go to casualty, and knowing the guitar parts for most of their stuff I deputised. Hence was back-stage with Kingsize (Ted) and his then Dominos - they seemed based on the Griff-Parry 5, with Brian Griffiths from the Big Three and (?) Parry from Joe Browns' Bruvvers. Fabulous, powerful group. I understand Ted is still a butcher in Lancashire (but not sure where - any idea?) and is also still performing.
Been in my collection from new - I'm not a dealer but retirement brings needs to de-clutter, keep a bit coming into the bank account etc., so some things have to go. Have a look at my other stuff.
