Very Rare 78rpm Brunswick issue with Original Jolson Brunswick insert Brunswick 6501 "The Cantor" - in Original Brunswick sleeve plus original translation pamphlet. Al Jolson sings in Yiddish, Recorded December 20, 1932 . . (released in March 1933) Jolson's three Brunswicks in the 6500 series are among his rarest commercial records. In December 1932, in the depths of the depression, Jolson was paid $50,000 to record 5 Brunswick sides. They didn't sell, and I'm certain his 10% royalties were minimal for these three 6500 Brunswicks "The Cantor" was introduced by Jolson in his Broadway show "The Wonder Bar" The background of the Jolson song - and a translation of the entire song - is within the special Brunswick pamphlet that was released with the record (see photos). While the record is rare, especially in this condition, the pamphlet itself is far rarer than the record. E+ condition A very fine copy of this rarity, plays beautifully.
