Very Rare Andy Warhol art RCA LM 9021 Horowitz plays Mendelssohn & Liszt

One of the rarest examples of an Andy Warhol designed cover.  RCA Records LM 9021, Vladimir Horowitz plays piano music of Mendelssohn and Liszt.  Designed in 1951, replaced quickly with a different cover.   Noted expert Richard Forrest's list of Warhol covers can be seen at http://rateyourmusic.com/list/rockdoc/andy_warhols_record_cover_art/

Apparently only the fifth record jacket designed by Warhol, and his first for RCA.  Only a handful of copies have surfaced.

This is an excellent copy of this rarity.  Front is clean and crisp with only the tiniest hint of surface wear at top.  There are small splits in the top and bottom seams that have no effect on displaying the front cover.  There is a 1 1/2" split in top seam, 4" in bottom seam, and a small split in middle of top seam.  Thankfully, they have not been repaired or taped and can easily be fixed by a qualified archivist.  Spine is intact.  Some minor soiling on back, with faded price stamp at top.

The disc is VG++, lightly played with just a few light surface marks.  Despite the fact that the label says "Made in U.S.A." it is, in fact, a German pressing, identified as such in deadwax.  In researching this, this is the only German pressed disc of this issue that I have ever seen.  The cover is the original US made cover.  German covers were constructed differently and never had this cover art.
