This is an original and very rare Virgin Records promotional subway poster for Public Image Ltd. This poster was for the single release of Seattle from the 1987 album Happy? And also served as the 1987 U.K. PiL Tour Promo. It was printed by the Virgin record company in England for promotional purposes to be pasted up around the undergrounds and for other outdoor advertising. These posters were not offered for sale to the public. Public Image Ltd (PiL) were an English post-punk band formed by vocalist John Lydon (aka Johnny Rotten), guitarist Keith Levene and bassist Jah Wobble.
Lydon emerged after the break-up of the Sex Pistols with PiL's First Issue (1978). Their early work is often regarded as some of the most challenging and innovative music of the post-punk era.
