Description

Rare "Sunny Meadows" radio program transcription - featuring singer Mary Williams and the Ray Miller Orchestra. This disc is Part 3 of the very first Sunny Meadows program. Program A Recorded in Chicago, December 14, 1928 Recorded by Brunswick - Matrix XC-2675 - One-sided 12-inch 78rpm ( Discographies list contents of this program as Unknown ! ) Mary Williams is introduced and sings "Me And The Man In The Moon", accompanied by Ray Miller's Orchestra. Very nicely done vocal - and the Ray Miller Orchestra. .  trumpet or cornet is heard as background behind the second chorus of the vocal (could well be Muggsy Spanier, who was a band member at this time, and he appears behind other Mary Williams vocals on other programs) Mary Williams also made some Vocalion records in the 15700 series during this period. Condition V+ or slightly better, but plays better, very well and clear. . . Do other copies of this rarity even exist ? Note: some discographies state that the matrix prefix X indicates a special recording. . but this is not so. X merely indicates a 12-inch record for Brunswick. . .
