Description

The Dixieland Jug Blowers, under the leadership of violinist Clifford Hayes, made about a dozen sides for Victor in late 1926 and early 1927.   The two sides on this disc were recorded in Chicago -- "Banjero" on December 10, 1926 and "Love Blues," with an Elizabeth Washington vocal, on June 7, 1927.  Too much "jug" for my taste but nonetheless enjoyable.  Incidentally, Docks, in the American Record Guide, values this Victor in same condition at $100-150.   So I am placing a higher than usual minimum on this item.
