Description
In 2016 I developed new processes to make disc records. Production technologies and physical properties of the early materials were examined and recreated using modern materials. This disc is made of a material which feels and plays like original shellac.
This auction is for a reproduction copy of a very rare and special disc, "Fortune Telling Man" by Bert Williams. This reproduction was derived from what is likely the cleanest surviving original copy; that copy is the one used in the Library of Congress’ National Jukebox. The original disc was physically copied and this reproduction is made from that original. This copy is made of modern materials which are formulated to simulate shellac, and it will also play on a vintage wind-up with steel needles, if desired.
Williams is one of the few famous African-American performers of his era and generally recorded as the duet, Williams and Walker.
Shipping via media mail with tracking is included for the continental USA. International shipping is at cost, while USPS is the least expensive method it does not include tracking nor insurance. If an international buyer chooses USPS shipping then they assume all responsibility. Please see the USPS website to calculate cost. UPS or Fedex are also shipped at cost and generally start at $100. I will combine shipping with previous orders which have not yet shipped.
