This title is from 1st Set of 25, issued in 2002 by Analogue Productions. 

Mastering NOTE:  The original 1962 release was on red vinyl (mono, a fold-down of the stereo) and blue vinyl (stereo), and according to Steve Hoffman, neither has anything above 7,000 cycles.

There was supposedly a “hum” on the original side One, so back in 1962 a tape copy was made and equalized to fix the “hum”, and the equalized tape copy is the tape that was then used for the Side One tracks ever after, whether LP (including the MFSL), CD or SACD.  Steve Hoffman requested the original master tape to check it for himself, and he got it.  The “hum” was practically unnoticeable unless you know what to listen for at the quietest moments, and the payoff is that the sound quality was much better than the equalized copy tape and it was in better shape, having never been used all these years, so Hoffman used the original, and the difference is dramatic.  Like hearing those Side One tracks for the first time.

Another example of what can be accomplished when the mastering engineer cares about the music and insists on the best source.  This one is another masterpiece.

Condition: Sealed Album Cover

(Near Mint) Straight corners, no seam-splits, no edge wear, no ring-wear, the “AcousTech Mastering” sticker is right where it should be, and the perforated opening for loose-fit outer plastic cover is completely intact.  The Limited Edition # 0498 sticker is on the back, bottom left-hand side.  This is a beautiful collector’s example of a great and highly underrated Guaraldi classic – from the real original master tape.

Packaging: The sealed album will be placed in a clear outer protective sleeve, then sandwiched between two large cardboard stiffener pads and carefully taped together.  I have used this method for many years to practically eliminate seam splits on sealed LPs.  The album is then packaged with bubble-wrap and Styrofoam peanuts in an oversize box.  I know what it is like to receive poorly packaged records, you will not have that experience with me!

Tracking: You should automatically receive your Tracking Number by email when the Shipping Label is printed.
