Description

Up for auction is a picture record probably a Christmas giveaway from Bon Aire Music, a Butler PA shop on North Main Street extension. Butler is north of Pittsburgh PA about 30 minutes.  On the back it says... It's a real pleasure to have the Gay Philosopher bring you his sentiments about Christmas..... Narrative and picture created and copyrighted, 1951 by Brown and Bigelow, St. Paul Minnesota.  Henry Major who painted the first Gay Philosopher died in 1948.  Upon Major’s death, Fry, who was the art director at Brown & Bigelow Advertising in NYC, was tasked with carrying on the character for advertising purposes because he was best able to capture the likeness. The Philosopher became a staple of B&B Advertising for years and Fry painted him until 1973. It's in very good shape, I can't tell if there are cracks in the record or if it's just the picture has a crease around the middle hole, please take a look at the picture closeup.  Back is in nice clean shape. The front is dirty. I won't clean it, I will let the new owner take care of it.
