Description
Beautiful pre-owned copy. This is the 2009 "1st Re-Press" that was not a part of the box set back-catalog re-issue project. (Those had the dark-colored spine on the jacket with the then-new "Dig Out Your Soul" font type.) This one is a faithful reproduction of the 1998 release with the cream-colored spine.
RKIDLP009 (not RKIDLP009X)...
This pressing is widely regarded as the best-sounding re-pressing ever made, rivaling the '98 Creation label release and pissing all over the subsequent 2014 & 2019 re-pressings. This thing has a nice mid-range and a really strong low-end. It's probably about as good as oasis can sound given Noel's propensity to layer overdubs and Owen Morris' 'brickwalling' production technique. This thing plays loud.
These discs have been cleaned and are in what I would conservatively call EX+ condition. Sides C and D do have one (1) visible surface scratch each and I have done my best to show them in the pics here. These scratches do not sound to me as if they effect playback.
Both discs have been play-tested and all 4 sides play clean with 3 minor issues noted:
* Side A1 'Acquiesce' has one tick in it at about the 2:30 mark - there is no discernable flaw that I can identify as the cause;
* Side C3 'Half the World Away' has a faint crackle that repeats in about the last 30-seconds - I cannot see a scratch or anything that I can attribute it to;
* Side D3 'The Masterplan' has a pop that repeats for maybe the first 10-seconds - again, I can't see a cause for it.
Again, the visual flaws do not seem to be the causes of what few audible issues there are. The visible scratches are very, very light and do not seem to me to coinceide with the stylus position when the flaws are heard. I hate to say it, but I think it's "just modern vinyl."
The jacket is in really nice condition overall with a sturdy spine, in-tact pockets, and strong corners. There is a faint crease about half-way down the front cover along the right edge as shown in the pics. No other notable condition problems. The inner sleeves are clean with no rips, splits, stains, etc.
Bottom line: These original 2009 re-pressings are rather highly sought after at this point. (As a side note, I recently paid over $100 for an '09 '(WTS) Morning Glory?' because of the level of competition for it.) This is a darn good copy of a damn-good record that is becoming harder and harder to find in this pressing. If you willing to live with what amounts to 3 minor issues that are audible for less than a combined 40 seconds, this is your chance to snag such a nice copy.
