Description

Offered is an original, vintage 3-record album Calypsos by Wilmoth Houdini and His Royal Calypso Orchestra, released in 1939. DECCA presents “A Special Collection of the World-Famous Music of Trinidad” - the recordings are: 180005 (A Monkey Swing; B He Had It Coming), 180006 (A The Welcome of Their Majesties: B Hot Dogs Made Their Name) and 180007 (A Roosevelt Opens World's Fair; B Johnny Take My Wife). For the top albums of 1939 Calypsos was ranked #5 - behind Leadbelly, Artie Shaw, Lee Wiley and Sergei Prokofiev.

 

The 3 shellac, 10 inch, 78RPMs are in an album with a pictorial cover, decorative back, yellow cloth covered spine, and 3 sleeves to hold the records. Conditions: some light soiling and scuffing on the cover, lower edge rubbed, bit generally in great shape, binding is tight, all 3 records appear to be in great shape. Dimensions: 10-3/8 x 12 inches.
