Samhain – Initium
A highly desirable and increasingly scarce example of Samhain’s landmark debut Initium. A foundational release in the early American horror-punk/deathrock underground, Initium is an important artifact of the brief but hugely influential period in which Glenn Danzig’s post-Misfits work began to establish its own distinct identity.
The present copy is particularly notable for its strong overall condition and desirable original pressing, making it an appealing example for the serious Samhain, Misfits, and underground-punk collector. The record presents exceptionally well and retains the character expected of a well-preserved original.
Playback: The record plays very well overall. Two brief, isolated skips are present and should be noted; these do not detract from the otherwise strong playback, but are disclosed here for complete accuracy.
A significant and increasingly difficult-to-find piece of early Samhain history, with particular appeal to collectors seeking original Horror Biz material rather than later reissues. Given the importance of Initium to the development of Danzig’s post-Misfits career and the enduring scarcity of original Samhain releases in desirable condition, this is an excellent opportunity to acquire a genuine piece of American underground music history.
