DESCRIPTION: This 45 record was made specifically for John F. (Jack) Kennedy's run for the White House in 1960 against Richard Nixon. This recording was Frank Sinatra's contribution to Kennedy's campaign. Considered Side A is "HIGH HOPES" sung by Frank Sinatra. The year before the campaign Sinatra had made the movie, "A HOLE IN THE HEAD" which popularized this song. Sammy Kahn rewrote the lyrics into a Kennedy promotional - "Everyone is voting for Jack...cause he's got what all the rest lack...everyone wants to back Jack...Jack is on the right track...cause he's got high hopes..." Side B, "ALL THE WAY" features the same band and chorus singers from side A but Frank Sinatra doesn't sing on the flip side. "ALL THE WAY" is also a campaign gimmick song - "Both sides of the Mason-Dixon...All the voters shout..OUr Jack can beat Mr. Nixon..Mr. Nixon better look out." Supposedly only a thousand 45's were pressed, as they were intended for distribution into juke boxes along the east coast. The "HIGH HOPES" side is numbered "kb-2077". "kb-2078" is printed on the flip side. CONDITION: This record is in the original brown paper sleeve and the vinyl is in pristine condition. This record has never been played. There is some peeling along the inner edge of the records' center. There is a scratch "HIGH HOPES" side of the label near the hole's rim. There are three very superficial scratches on the "HIGH HOPES" side of the label. This record is in excellent condition.
