Vintage vinyl LP record albums.

Pete Fountain, Clarinet, Dixieland Jazz New Orleans style.

1.  Pete Fountain.  Pickwick.  Stereo. SPC-3024.  (Pickwick is a recording company that repackages previously released material.)  This album is not dated.

Condition:  The outer jacket is protected by retail shrink wrap.  The inner paper liner is a new replacement.  The vinyl disc shows very light turntable play.

2.  The Dukes of Dixieland Featuring Pete Fountain.  RCA Victor LPM-2097.  1961.

Condition:  The front of the jacket is very nice.    On the back side there is brown spotting and the seam at the bottom is busted, almost all the way across.  The inner paper liner is a new replacement.  The vinyl disc shows moderate turntable play, that is, some light scuffing and scratching.

3.  Pete Fountain Day.  Coral Records.  Stereo.  CRL 757313.   Gatefold jacket.  Includes photo pages inside.  1959.

Condition:  The jacket is scuffed.  The edges and corners are worn.  On the back is a price mark penciled in.  Inside the gatefold is brown spotting, some scuffing, and another penciled price mark.  The inner paper liner is a new replacement.  The vinyl disc shows light turntable play.

4.  Pete's Place.  Coral Records.  CRL 757453.  Stereo.  1964.

Condition:  The outer jacket is pretty good, just some scuffing on the front that removed small specs of the surface paper.  There is some bubbling, also.  The corners are bumped,  The vinyl disc shows light turntable play except for one sizeable scratch that does not appear deep enough to cause a skip.

5.  The Blues.  Coral Records.  High Fidelity.  CRL 57284.  1959.

Condition:  Jacket is solid.  There is wear at the edges and corners. A price tag on the front.   On the back side there is brown spotting on the white background.  There also are a couple of coffee-cup type of stains.  The paper liner is worn at the open edges.  The vinyl disc shows moderate turntable play.

6.  Music from Dixie.  Coral Records.  CRL 57401.  1963.

Condition:  The jacket is worn at the edges and corners.  The bottom seam is busted in the middle.  The inner paper liner is wrinkled and creased.  Plus some fade near the open edges.  The vinyl disc shows moderate turntable play.

Fountain's clarinet work is noted for his sweet fluid tone. He has recorded over 100 LPs and CDs under his own name, some in the Dixieland style, many others with only peripheral relevance to any type of jazz.

The distinctive Fountain sound — more woody than most — comes from the crystal mouthpieces he has played with since 1949. His first crystal mouthpiece was actually Irving Fazola's, given to Pete by Fazola's mother after Faz's death, because she had heard him play and noted how he played like her son. That mouthpiece was shattered on the bandstand one night when Pete had played his solo and was standing by as trumpeter George Girard played his [own solo], and Girard brought his trumpet down suddenly on top of the mouthpiece. Pete still has the shattered mouthpiece, and has played other crystal mouthpieces ever since.[5]

Fountain leads the Pete Fountain Quintett, a New Orleans French Quarter jazz band of Fountain and his Creole-style music. The "Quintett" has had many musicians over the years, but has primarily recorded with Jack Sperling on drums, bassists Don Bagley or Morty Corb, vibeist Godfrey Hirch, and pianists Merle Kock or Stan Wrightsman.
