Description
This landmark recording of February 1975 celebrated the first occasion that flamenco was performed in Madrid's Teatro Real. This vinyl LP (Phillips Stereo 91 13 001) was purchased in Madrid in 1976. It contains 8 pieces performed by the late Paco de Lucía accompanied on some tracks by his brother Ramón de Algeciras. Side 1 - Alegrias, Tarantas, Granainas, Zapateado Side 2 - Soleá, Fandangos, Guajiras, Rumba
The last track, the Rumba, later evolved into de Lucías hallmark piece Entre Dos Aguas.
The audience noise at the end and beginnings of pieces is an annoyance but the actual performances are superb and brought Paco de Lucía to a wider audience at the same time as his recordings and performances with Camarón de la Isla were transforming flamenco
