"To Buddy Holly, singing was his life; his joy, the joy he was privileged to bring to others through his singing. Buddy's life was tragically short, but in it he must known a great deal of joy, for his voice reached and brought happiness to millions...A previous album, 'The Buddy Holly Story,' dedicated to the memory of Buddy, was so warmly received and so deeply appreciated by the vast following he established during his career, that a follow-up, volume two of 'The Buddy Holly Story' was conceived." - excerpt off the back of Vol. II, written by Holly's widow, Maria Elena.
Charles Hardin Holly (1936-1959) known professionally as Buddy Holly incorporated gospel, rockabilly, country, and pop music into his version of early rock 'n' roll. He opened for Elvis Presley three times, plus for Bill Haley and His Comets. Haley was killed on Feb. 3, 1959, when the airplane he was in crashed in Iowa, also killing the pilot, the Big Bopper, and Ritchie Valens. He was 22. - wikipedia.org.
