Rubber Soul is the landmark sixth studio album by the The Beatles. This is the Mono version of the album first released on 3 December 1965 in the United Kingdom under EMI's Parlophone label. The famous distorted, stretched photograph was taken by photographer Robert Freeman. The effect was discovered entirely by accident when the photo was projected onto a piece of cardboard that had slightly tilted backward. The band loved the elongated look and decided to keep it. Rubber Soul is widely recognized by music historians as a massive creative leap forward for the band. It represents the bridge between the height of traditional "Beatlemania" and the groundbreaking studio experimentation heard on their subsequent albums like Revolver and Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. It famously introduced pop audiences to the sitar on the track "Norwegian Wood".

The first 3 pressings of this album were what was called a "Loud Cut" with augmented bass. However it was rushed and suffered from a muddy bass and harsh vocals. After a brief run of the -4 second pressing, EMI brought in their legendary top classical cutting engineer, Hazel Yarwood, in January 1966 to cut the -5 master. Among Beatles audiophiles and collectors on forums like Discogs and Parlogram Auctions, the Hazel Yarwood -5 cut is widely considered the absolute best-sounding mono pressing of Rubber Soul ever produced because of its incredible warmth, balance, and clarity. This listing is the -5 Cut by Hazel Yarwood made in 1966. This can be confirmed by an examination of the dead wax which reveals the number XEX 579 - 5. While not a first pressing it is actually the more sought-after version of Rubber Soul for its audio quality! 

Condition:

Used - Good. The cover shows signs of wear with some scuffing and discolouration. The vinyl has light surface marks but should play through without issue. Please see photos.

Simply select the "Free Collection in Person" option at checkout. Once your order is ready, you will be notified to schedule a convenient collection time. The Showroom is open for collections Monday to Saturday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and Sunday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
